PARKA PARKA

I started placement last week and knew I'd need a thick, warm coat to walk to the bus stop in the darkness of the winter mornings. After lots and lots of browsing in the shops, I gathered that the only style that is thick and warm enough are parkas. I personally dislike parkas just because everyone looks the same and has the same thing-- you know that photo on Twitter with a group of 10 girls wearing the same parka. Yeah.

Anyway, after trying on many coats, all the nice looking ones were too thin or so oversized that it will let so much air in. Here were the warmest coats I could find and YES, they were all parkas.

OPTION 1 [TOPSHOP]

This was the first parka I tried on and quite liked. (Excuse my huge nostrils, I need to breathe). The inside is lined with fur but I don't think it's the whole inside, just the outer bit by the zip. This was very comfortable but I wanted a big hood! Plus, I'm sure I could find a jacket this style much cheaper elsewhere.

OPTION 2 [ZARA]

I've had my eye on this one for a long time as the model on the site makes it look so trendy! I love love love the hood, it's so big! The down side however, is that it's more of a jacket and it's very thin and I don't imagine it to be very insulating. I don't like the lining of the inside- it looks a bit like a Barbour jacket and I'm personally not a fan. If you detach the thin lining, the hood comes off as well, making the coat SUPER thin. For £129, I don't think it is worth the price.

OPTION 3 [TOPSHOP]

I decided on this parka in the end as the whole inside is lined and is super thick. I love the huge hood- I've put it to good use in the rain/ when my ears are warm. It looks really heavy but the coat is quite light and comfortable. Huge pockets to just slide in my snotty tissues. Perfect. The fur on the hood is detachable!
